Eight freelance contracts that actually say how you get paid in crypto
Standard freelance contract templates were written for bank transfers. They say “payment within 30 days” and stop. If you invoice in a stablecoin, everything that actually goes wrong happens in the space that sentence leaves empty: the client sends on the wrong network, a withdrawal fee comes out of your fee, the rate moved since you quoted, or you are told “we sent it” when nothing has confirmed.
This pack fills that space. Eight documents, each in print-ready PDF and editable Word format, with payment clauses that name the asset, name one network, name the receiving address, record the rate source and how long the quoted rate is valid, put network fees on the client, define what happens when a transfer arrives short, and state the moment a payment becomes final.
What is inside
- Fixed-Fee Project Agreement — agreed scope, agreed total fee, deposit, revisions, acceptance, intellectual property on full payment, cancellation fee.
- Hourly Services Agreement — rate, time increments, weekly and monthly caps, timesheets, invoicing cycle, right to suspend on non-payment.
- Monthly Retainer Agreement — payment in advance, included hours, rollover rules, overage rate, pause rights, annual rate review.
- Statement of Work — deliverables with acceptance tests, milestones, client dependencies, explicit exclusions and priced assumptions.
- Stablecoin Payment Terms Addendum — two pages you attach to the client’s own contract when they will not replace it.
- Change Order — prices a scope change and gets it signed before the work starts.
- Mutual NDA — short, two-way, including the rule that neither side ever asks for a key or seed phrase.
- Completion and Handover Certificate — what was delivered, what was transferred, what was paid, what is warranted and for how long.
And the parts you will use every week
- Clause Guide and Negotiation Notes — every important clause explained: why it is there, what clients ask you to change, what you can safely concede, and where to hold the line.
- Client Contract Review Sheet (bonus) — how to review a contract the client wrote: the ten points that matter, in order of what they cost you, with the wording to ask for.
- Client Intake and Terms Checklist (bonus) — the questions to answer before you quote, and the warning signs worth walking away from.
- Contract and Payment Terms Tracker — five sheets: contracts, payment terms per client, change orders, a calculated summary, and instructions. It counts your unsigned change orders and the clients whose address you never verified on a second channel.
- Payment Details Block — fill your asset, network, address and rate rules in once, then paste the same verified block into every contract and invoice.
Honest limits
These are professional commercial templates, not legal advice, and they are not drafted for one country. Governing law and jurisdiction are left blank for you to complete. Nothing here is reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction, no electronic signature service is included, and the documents do not calculate anything — they are documents. What they do give you is a defensible baseline written around the way stablecoin payments actually fail, and a guide that tells you which clauses to defend when a client negotiates.
